What Every Groom-to-be Should Know About Weddings
July 1, 2010
When it comes to planning and paying for a wedding, we tend to think that this is the sole responsibility of the bride-to-be and her parents. While this is true to a large extent, the groom-to-be should not be entirely eliminated from the process. This article will identify some gray areas and also give some useful advice for grooms.
Once a couple commits to a life-long relationship, they become engaged. Between the two, they will decide on the date and venue of their marriage. The couple may want a big wedding, or they may want to keep it low-key and invite close friends and immediate family.
It is customary for the bride’s family to pay for the wedding expenses. However, they may not be able to afford a huge wedding with all the trimmings. In this case, the groom or his family should be prepared to make a financial contribution. The groom should be included in the choosing of the photographer and caterer.
Who pays for the wedding rings? The traditional practice is that grooms buy brides’ wedding bands, while brides buy mens wedding bands. These days, this custom is very flexible and it doesn’t really matter who foots the bill.
There are many couples who like to have rings in a matching design. In such cases, this can be done by a jeweler who makes wedding bands for men as well as women. This nice idea will have a lot of sentimental value in later years.
When drawing up the guest list, the groom and the bride’s families should be allowed to invite a proportionate number of people. The bride’s parents will be responsible for sending out the invites. They can only do this once the groom’s family has supplied a guest list complete with names and postal details.
When the day comes, the groom and his best man should arrive at the ceremony venue 20-30 minutes before the time of the service. The groom should not engage in frivolous conversation with anyone. He should sit quietly on his seat and wait for proceedings to get underway.
If you are a groom-to-be, you should look your best on the big day. Today, many men are conscious about the condition of their hair, skin and nails, but some are not! Skin care is especially important. If you suffer with acne outbreaks, this is something you should address.
You can solve this potential problem by taking action about 6 weeks before your wedding day. Find out from a skin-care professional or your pharmacist how to get rid of acne. When you have got the necessary product, use it as directed, and start as quickly as possible. This will help prevent an outbreak and you can pose, blemish-free, for the wedding photographer.
